I started 50 mg of 5-htp it keeps me awake at night. I can't just lay in bed and let my body rest because I feel like I need to move. The same thing happend when I took zoloft. I also don't stop during the day. I'm the energizer bunny. The energy kinda feels good but it's really too much. I need something for anxiety. Help This lump in my throat is annoying and the headaches are no fun either.

When I took 5-htp, I tried taking it at night in the beginning. I was told that it would make me sleepy, it didn't, it kept me awake. So, then I switched to taking it in the morning and after that I was fine. I never got headaches or a 'lump' in my throat from it, though. Or, are you saying that those symptoms are from the anxiety? I started at 50mg also. I believe that's the lowest dose available.

I was taking it about 2 years ago and I don't remember. I just remember if I didn't take my ambien I wasn't sleeping and hated it. I like the 5-htp so far but I discovered a rash on my lower back after about 3 doses so I stopped to see if it will go away and will take it again to see if it comes back. I want to also look in to amino acids for anxiety.
