I am 48 and have severe osteoporosis. (3.1 in spine, 2.7 in hip)Fortunatley, I have no physical problems and was not aware of the problem until bone density test in '07. Another DEXA in '08 showed the problem was worse. This was after a year on Fosamax. So, gyno. sent me to endo. and he put me on Evista along with Fosamax. After first week, my lower back hurt so badly I would be in tears by the end of the day. Quit taking it, spent 8 days in a row at chiropractor with adjustments and tins unit (sp) 20 minutes a day. I called endo and only got to visit with his nurse. She said to stop the Evista, and I could come in and start Forteo the next day. That is it, no consultation with doc at all. I didn't even know what it was or how it was used. Needless to say, I will not be using him.
When I was 27, had severe endometriosus resulting in two miscarriages and two ectopic pregnancies. Doc did a hysterectomy which threw me into menopause at a very young age resulting in the early osteoporosis.
Have an appt. tomorrow in Dallas with new endo. Thanks to all of your posts, I am armed with lots of questions, concerns and new information. You are an answer to prayer, and I will continue to visit here frequently. I apologize for posting my life story, but it helps somehow to know I am not going through this alone. God bless!

Good luck with your appointment tomorrow. I hope you can come back and let us know what the new endo recommends.

more urine tests, more blood tests....
She did not think the Evista caused the lower back muscle pain. However, she did not think I needed to take that along with Fosamax. She wants me to continue with Fosamax weekly, 1200 calcium, walk 20 minutes, strenghten core muscle groups. I asked about supplements, and the answer was " will not help."
Came home disappointed. Guess I was expecting a miracle cure or something different.
