Hi, tomorrow afternoon I am going to have a hemorrhoid surgery and they prescribed me with tylenol extra strength and colace (aside from the nausea meds). they told me to have sits baths 3 times a day and after every BM's for about a week. I just wanted to know if there is something else I can do to reduce the pain and make my BM's smoother. I have read all the blog posts and there seems to be only 1 person who recommends if but he also had a special diet for a few weeks after the surgery. So I guess my question is; what treatments, aside from the pills I have, should I do to prevent from the hemorrhoid form coming back?

Thanks,
Maggie

I hope your surgery went well and you are doing fine. I go in a few hours to see my surgeon to schedule my date with destiny....yipeeee
I would like to read how it is going with you as soon as you are able. My surgeon uses the Stapling procedure. I have grade 2 roids and a fissure.

my surgery went well... or so they say. the doctor said i had a fissure as well which sucks but he also said it had been there for a long time. i am doing well. i got to go home 2 hours after i was done so that was good. however they said to eat chicken broth and clear liquids but i wanted a burger because i was starving! "Easy in, easy out" is what the nurse said. but you got to listen otherwise I'm sure it'll come back. I'm still in some pain but i can definitely say that I've had worse.

I'm taking 2 Tylenol extras every 6 hours (1000mg) and they gave me a stronger pain med if it hurts too much. I've taken stool softener and fiber pills. so far no BMs so I'm happy!:)
