It took mine about 6 weeks to heal, and it wasn't even broken.

I injured mine last year. I don't know if I cracked it or not, but it took forever to heal.

I fell two years ago in March 2007. I didn't have any pain in the coccyx area at all at that time. In April 2008, My mother had a stroke and I spent the best part of two months sitting around the hospital with her. I soon noticed that my butt area would be very sore when I would try to stand up after sitting for a while. I also noticed that I would have to sit in a certain position as my butt felt very bruised when sitting. This continued from May until August. I would consider going to the doctor but then it would feel a little better. Then it would get really sore again, thought i was going mad.
I was to start a science degree in September which would invlolve a lot of sitting down so I finally went to the doc. He sent me for x-rays, imagine my shock when he told me that at some point in the past I had broken my coccyx and that the prolonged sitting down with my mum in the hospital had caused the healed coccyx to displace. The reason it would be sore and then fine and then sore again, is the constant displacing of it.
The pain of breaking a coccyx I think depends on how badly it is shattered. I have read stories of people in agony. My main pain was when I would try to stand up after sitting.. I'm almost completely over it now, just some little pressure now and again in the area. My main problem though, is that the displacement has interfered with my toilet functions as the whole area is connected to the coccyx. not as bad as it used to be thank god !!!:)
