The Fall 2008 issue of The Motivator published by the MSAA just arrived. Over 20 pages was written for women with MS and discuses: Family, Health, Dating, Sex, etc. Much of what is written has been discussed here on the forums. I enjoyed one quote: "I have MS, but MS does not have me." LOL, I suppose it is the same as me locking my MS in the closet!;)

Thank you for inquiring about my parents. My mom rehabilitated here in my home before going to her own home (next door across the hayfield). She will never be the same due to the accident worsening her Parkinson's. I think she needed to stay here a lot longer. I told her today that the room was still available.
Other than that, trusting in God each moment, I am busy with my 9 year old wrapping up his 10th grade studies. I have been burning the midnight oil to be ready for 11th grade studies in January. At least Algebra II will be a bit less taxing than Geometry, but I still have to remember balancing chemical equations..... Well, at least I get a cognitive workout!!:):):)

Amen to that, Jayhawk! When I feel that MS is taking over my life in some way, I imagine it to be in a tiny locked box and try to forget about it. It works for me.
I'll have to get that magazine, I've never even heard of it before. I can't imagine how difficult dating would be with MS. I have friends without MS who are beautiful, smart and successful who have trouble dating. I truly feel blessed to have a husband who really deserves credit for stepping up the way he has. Honestly, I think MS is harder on him than it is on me, and he's still learning and adjusting. He finally agreed to get on some kind of caregiver support website. I'm not disabled and I can still do a lot, but there are times, especially after a long day at work, when I am done. He has been helping out a lot more with errands, cleaning, cooking, and grocery shopping.
A few years ago I would never dream of asking my husband to do any of these things--he's the main breadwinner in the family, and I wanted to contribute to the household. It can be difficult switching roles like that.
Jayhawk, I hope your parents are doing better.

We posted at the same time. It's great that your mom is close and has the option of moving in. She's so lucky to have you as her son.
Bless you for teaching algebra and geometry! Those subjects plus chemistry were nightmares for me. That's more of a cognitive marathon than a workout!
