Does anyone know how long it takes to hear from the Appeals Council after you have been denied by ALJ?

I'm also waiting on Appeal answer. I appealed in October 2008, my attorney did state on his letter it may take nine months to get an answer, I'm in CA.
Are you filing a new SSD case? My Lawyer suggested I do that while I wait for answer, but I'm not sure if I should because everything is still the same.
I wonder if I lose my back benefits if I do file new SSD case, I don't know, I'm so tired of this and we need more income and I feel maybe I should try and find a job to help out but I have already tried that and lasted as long as I could for five months and it was only part-time. I was in pain everyday when I worked.
I hope we get our approvals soon

Hello, I filed my case in June of 2004 I got denied 2 times and then appealed again to go infront of the judge. That was in Aug of 2007, I just went to court in Sept 2008 and just recvd my Fully Favorable dec. in November. Hang in there, they are soooo busy. Good Luck

Trlyblsd, Did you go to court again on your appeal after being denied at the ALJ hearing?
