I had my first IUI today and found it EXTREMELY unpleasant - I had slight cramping and felt a hot stinging sensation as the injection was made into the uterus. I can't stand the thought of having to do it again tomorrow. After I left the office, I burst into tears. What is wrong here? I am very "squeamish" when it comes to matters of the female anatomy, however, I am very together emotionally, so the crying thing just came out of nowhere.

I had the procedure done two hours ago and still feel a bit of cramping and my stomach seems a bit swollen. Does this sound right? I know the nurses/assistants at my R/E's office thought I was crazy. Can anyone assure me that I'm not??? Thanks for in info- http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

HELLO JUST READ YOUR POST. I HAVE NEVER HAD A IUI DONE BUT I DID HAVE A HSG DONE TODAY AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS. IT HURT REALLY BAD AT FIRST WHEN THE DYE WAS GOING THROUGH MY TUBES.. I AM GOING TO TAKE CLOMID WITH MY NEXT CYCLE THEN I THINK WE ARE GOING TO END UP DOING THE IUI.UNFORTANTALLY MY DH COUNT IS REALLY LOW IT WAS LIKE 1,5 MILLION WITH 50%MOBILITY.BUT ANYWAY I HOPE YOU GET A BFP WHEN YOU TEST GOOD LUCK....... Hi Bam with my first IUI I had extreme cramping afterwards to the point where I couldn't walk. This lasted for about 2 days and I also was very bloated for about a week and a half to the point I couldn't button my jeans. However with my 2nd and 3rd IUI they were completely pain free. What was the reason for being cramped and bloated I have no idea. But from what I understand from the nurses/doc its normal to have some cramping.

Did they use washed sperm for the IUI? When my OB did the IUI, she used prewashed sperm from the cryobank. She did 7 IUI's and each one was very painful, and lots of bloating.

A few months later I started going to an RE, who ordered unwashed sperm and then washed it themselves in their lab...No Pain at all.

I am seeing an R/E and they washed the sperm in their lab. I am so glad to hear that others had the same experience (well, not glad you went through the pain, but glad I'm not crazy! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif In fact, I just told my husband that I feel so bloated - like there's air in my belly. How was it the second day? I can't imagine how it will be tomorrow! Thank you for the info! Baby dust to you all!
