As prep for a colonoscopy my GI doctor prescribed 2 Ducolax tablets, then 3 hours later Glycolax 255gm in Gatoraid. When I showed the prescription to the pharmacist, she said that I should use, (as many other people do) Miralax 238gm container instead of Glycolax. Will the results be the same?

It's basically the same thing but the generic is a prescription and usually cheaper than the over the counter miralax. The good things is miralax doesn't have any taste to it.

It's been my experience that the Miralax dissolves a little bit easier, and has absolutely no taste to it. Glycolax, while being the same thing (it's the generic of Miralax), has a very slight aftertaste. Either one can be dissolved in most liquids, hot or cold, and will both produce the same results.
Also, he may have recommended the Miralax because some insurances don't cover Glycolax due to an over-the-counter alternative (Miralax) being available.
