I'm 36 years old and I started working out a year ago and eating better. I was between a size 6, 8 and now I'm between a size 2, 4. My family and I went to California 6 months ago and I wore my bikini to show off my nice new bod. Well I was very stupid and didn't put sunblock on which I also have since adulthood, well I got really burned! When we got back from vacation I noticed when I would bend down my skin on my stomach looked really wrinkled and my legs were the same way if I squeezed the skin together. I went to the dermatologist and he said its what happens with age, but I think it's really strange that it could just happen that quick. You can't notice it unless I'm bending or if I squeeze my skin together, I have older sisters that there skin is not like this. My question is do you guys think its from the sunburn and it will get better or is it from the weight loss. Either way I would like to know what I can do about it. :confused:If anyone has an ideas on what it would be or how I can repair it, I would so greatly appericate it!

I'm the only one who can see it. Like I said I have to bend down or squeeze the skin together to see the loose, wrinkled skin. I don't know if it is the sun because it's been almost 7 months since the sunburn! I wasn't heavy before so I wouldn't think it was from going down a few dress sizes and I do workout alot.
Thanks again,
WS

It may be from the sun drying out your skin, thus making it "wrinkle" more easily. When I used to go tanning, I noticed that my skin seemed to do this a little more. I started using a very moisturizing cream or lotion on my body and making sure to apply it every day after the shower, and anytime after being in the sun. Moisturizing will help keep your skin smooth and firm. You can always try an anti-aging lotion, which usually has firming ingredients (I like Curel). If you did not lose the weight way too fast or anything, loose skin shouldn't be a big problem. I've lost a little weight this year (about 10 pounds from a size 4 to 2) and notice that my stomach skin kind of does this, but it did this BEFORE I lost weight too. You might always have this happen a little, but try using extra lotion and moisturizer and see if it helps.

I was a size 6, 8 before and now I'm a size 2, 4 and I'm 5'9. I actually didn't lose a ton of weight I started doing yoga and went down in size! I will try the lotion and when I think people can actually see it then I will do the lazer surgery.
Thanks for your advice, I apperciate it!!

Try using lotion with L-Ascorbic Acid or peptide. Supposely they will help firm your skin.

I've heard from my friend who is in skincare business who told me that the newest ingredient for firming is called BodyFit. I don't know which brand has this ingredient in their slimming products, but if you've found it, you should give it a try. (and let us know whether it works!)

Winterstorm, same exact thing happened to me...well, it's still happening. I think the only thing to do is exercise to try to tighten the area.

It's worse between my upper thighs...and then my stomach.

If exercise doesn't work, then one day maybe I'll get enough money saved up to do something surgically.

Let me know if anything works for you.

I had no idea that losing the weight was going to cause this...it's not attractive.

Thank you,
Salty

Salty,
I'm actually really tone so I don't know if that will help or not. My sis who is in good shape came over and I said bend over let me see your stomach and she did and she had the same thing I do and that I'm wanting to be perfect theres nothing wrong with my body. I do have a six pack so I think maybe shes right. I started thinking about it and I'm going to be going through a divorce and I think that maybe thats part of the issue with my brain and it's true wanting to be perfect. I am going to try some of the lotions that were recommended and I'll let you know! Good luck and thanks for your post!

WS, I'm sure you're fine. My stomach is not toned and my upper thighs need work. I thought I was toned until I lost more weight and then I knew I needed to work on it. I talk about it, but have yet to work on it.

Women are tough on ourselves...we really are.

I'm sorry you are going through a rough time.

If you're toned, you are better off than a lot of us. I wouldn't even give it a second thought...concentrate on taking care of yourself to get through the tough stuff.

I'm sending positive thoughts your way. Take care.

Hugs,

Salty,
Thanks and isn't so true we woman put so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect, I'm 36 and I think I'm pretty damn lucky I look the best I ever have. Yoga is the key. The divorce is a good thing, but thanks for the positive thoughts I apperciate them!

WS, I have been so lazy lately...I know yoga is supposed to be the best. I've been taking shortcuts and isolating the areas that aren't toned and doing isometrics.

It's helping a little...I have to get motivated to do more.

It's great that you look the best you ever have. Love to hear stuff like that.

Take care!

WS, maybe you know what I can do...when I lost the weight, my butt seemed to go too. Any good exercises (or anything else) I can do to get it somewhat back?

I must admit that's another thing I don't like about losing the weight. I want to start a thread about this, not sure what board to put it...guess exercise & fitness.

Thank you,
Salty

Salty,
I live in Salt Lake and we have the most amazing mountains ever, the yoga is great but for building muscles I'm always hiking or snowshoeing in the mountains. It puts me in such a great place with my spirit and tones up the behind. I also want to buy one of those steppers and start doing that to tone a bit more. My butt was always my problem area, we woman all have one area that is the hardest to tone, but I'm getting there. How old are you if you don't mind me asking?
Hugs back to you!

Hello Winterstorm,
I am the same age as you. I completely agree with you on different areas that need work for different women. My is my butt, even after i've run for a Marathon, my butt is still too flabby... it's very frustrating. I don't think there is anything else I can do besides just making peace with myself.

Nikkist,
I agree with the making peace with it, I kind of laughed to myself thinking about this because you and I are probably pretty attractive woman and theres these men out there who get together with these big beer bellys and they're proud of there big bellys. But we woman have to have everything perfect, I told my yoga teacher to work on the behind one day and she's like your body is perfect. I have to say she hasn't seen me naked or she wouldn't think so. Woman always think worse of themselves then anyone else ever would, that's one thing that age has helped me with but I'm still working on it!
Thanks,
WS

WS, it seems like forever since i've been on the boards.

First i had the flu twice (both times I thought I'd never get better) and i also have a fibroid that makes me nauseous.

I will finally be operated on next week.

Thank you for caring. Hope you are well.

Salty,
I haven't been on this site for awhile either. I got divorced, which is a great thing. My ex and I are such good friends but you need passion in a marriage too! Hey and the skin thing is looking great for me, yoga has really helped tone my body!
I'm glad you're feeling better!

Winter, so good from you. I'm happy that you're happy.

Now if I could only find my prince and have my own family...still hoping.

After my operation, I'm going to have to get into yoga. I know it's so good for you.

I was hoping I could just start w/a yoga dvd or maybe look up some of the poses online. Do you go to a class?

I'm posting like crazy about this, Winter, so I'm asking you too. I have had bad hair thinning for months (actually right around the same time my gyn. put me on 50,000 iu vit.d for 24 weeks).

Needless to say, I'm a wreck because of it...I never realized how much I loved my hair until I see it everywhere but on my head. It's really upsetting me.

Any ideas? I respect your opinion.

Thanks for writing back,
Salty
