some personal info before describing my problem. I am sexually active and have had total of 4 different sexual partners in my life time(have been with one partner for more then 2 years, im sure he is negative because he's only been with me/this im sure of). I do not shave.
I have a pimple like bump on the outside of the inner labia, where the major labia folds in (bump between the 2 labia layers). This reddish bump really hurts, burns and sometimes itches. Its uncomfortable to sit and even walk. There seems to be some puss inside and getting bigger. It didn't hurt that much yesterday and i thought i had popped it when puss came out, but now it got bigger and hurting worse. I have been putting triple antibiotic ointment on it to ease the pain.
I have had this before on the same location/area. I went to my family doctor and she looked at it and said it was an inflammation or infection due to maybe accidental scrape. She tells me that i should always clean myself after sexual intercourse. I asked her to get tests done and when i called back to check they said tests were negative. This happened several months ago. I am always scared of getting herpes. I have done some research online and i see many conflicting ideas, whether its a herpes or a cyst. The last time this occurred, it was during the time when i had my period and it took bout 2 weeks to completely go away. Now im close to my period date, could it just be stress and my hygiene??
My doctor gave my acyclovir to help the healing, but she says i was negative for herpes.
Can someone please tell me whether its really herpes or really a pimple?

It sounds to me that it is a cyst or an ingrown hair. Usually with herpes outbreaks they do not puss like you are describing, so there's a really good chance it's not herpes. You also said you had the tests done and they came out negative, so I wouldn't be too terribly worried. Have you had tests done for HPV? Sometimes genital warts can pop up in weird places, too. Just something to think about. If you're really scared of getting STDs, make sure you always use protection and get tested regularly. Good luck!
