For aches and pains: advil or tylenol (make sure medically safe for you to take, some can not take tylenol due to liver issues)
Burning & itch: epsom salt in a warm bath helps me, also aveeno bath, dermoplast (blue can) spray, ice pack (wrapped in towel) on the burning area-some say it stops outbreaks in its tracks
To keep things dry: cornstarch sprinkled on the area, out of shower or bath blow dry with hair drying on low setting to avoid rubbing sores/blister

Spray 3% hydrogen peroxide on your OB/itchy and irritated parts, plus at the base of the spine where the virus hides. If you can buy 70% DMSO cream, get some of that and apply on top of the peroxide. Read up on DMSO though as it is very dangerous stuff if not handled correctly.

Also, buy 12-35% food grade hydrogen peroxide and put 1 pint in a full hot tub of water (hotter the better to open your pores up) and soak it it for 30-45 min. This will allow the peroxide to absorb into your skin and increase oxygenation and your body's ability to fight the virus. This sounds like you could be experiencing an initial OB which means it could last weeks if not months, so get on top of this thing immediately. Take these baths 2-3 times per week and it should really help. Things can initially get worse, but they will get better with this consistent treatment. Be careful with hydrogen peroxide too as it can bleach clothe and your hair, especially when it's in high concentrations.

thank you! and yes this is my first OB and it has been going on for quite a while. when i read posts from others and they talk about a couple days, i get all sorts of jealous. thanks for the input! i will try it for sure. after a good scrubbin of my bath tub of course, just moved in to the place, and i can't foresee taking a bath until it's hardcore scrubbed down. i'll let you know how it works, and again thank you.
expect many more posts from me asking questions,
i don't have many people to turn to about this issue,
and i'm just glad this resource is here.
you guys make it much easier to deal. i know this sounds very cheesy, but it's a relief to have stumbled on somewhat of a support system, rather to be living with a feeling of being alone, which i think a lot of us have felt.

just don't techno for an answer
