Does anyone with PTSD notice loud noises make them react abnormally?

Yes, one of the symptoms of PTSD is being easily startled or frightened. It is very embarrassing :(

The guys at work think it's funny to startle me with loud noises because I jump and react so much. I ask them to stop, but they keep doing it. I don't want to explain to them why I react so much to it. I've tried controlling it, but I can't.:(

I have sonmeone at work who thinks its funny to see me jump - not that he needs to keep jumping out from behind doors at me I jump at a lot of things - I had to go into a storeroom yesterday a few times and everytime someone was in there when I opened the door I jumped - I HATE IT! but I can't control it - sometimes it's worse than others -
I've made a bit of a joke of it now and now that the guy sees that Im not getting upset he seems a bit bored with it - I hope it stays that way - I did take another co-worker aside and explain to them why I jump because he was doing it too - I just said I had been attacked and that's why - that's all I told him and I asked him to stop and he did - worth a try.
