ok, i know i have alot of questions.
thanks for everybody's help.
when i was a child, i would take lysine tablets to help with cold sores that i would always get inside of my mouth and that were really painful.
can it help genital herpes as well?

The science and the experts say that L-lysine has no effect on suppressing or healing herpes outbreaks. However, there are many here that do take it, myself included. All I know is when I ran out and did not take any for a week, I had outbreaks. When I take it, I don't.

for all that it's worth..
i usually deal with alot of stinging and itching and all sorts of uncomfortable sensations. i took two tablets early in the night, and later that evening (when i had a date, hells yeah there's hope!!) i had none of that whatsoever. there is no way to prove a direct correlation, or to say it will help in healing. but i will say there is a good chance that lysine helped. it was nice to have a couple hours out of my night not fidgeting because of pain or stinging.

i have hsv1&2 and had chickenpox for the first time 2 years ago and have had zosters(shingles out breaks) when I don't take my lysine, I have out breaks. but with lysine and I add a good B vitamin, I am symptom free, until I get too stressed, or forget to take. the amount and frequency I have tweaked over the years. it is always a good idea to talk to your dr about this stuff, just make sure you have a dr that is open to this.
