I am guessing you are using an electric shaver and they never get very close.

Do you mean that you aren't getting a close enough shave, or the skin feels rough? If the prickles you feel are little hair stubbles, you aren't getting a close enough shave. I've found little tricks here and there to help get a very smooth shave.

Firstly, I use a good razor. I like Venus Embrace or Breze. Even the regular Venus razors weren't good enough.. I like one with a lot of the moisturizing strip. That way it keeps your skin soft!

Secondly, I use a moisturizing body wash to shave. Of course a regular shave gel is good and some people like to use hair conditioner. All of these are definitely better than bar soap or nothing! Even though some razors say you don't have to use anything, I still do. I have sensitive skin, so I have to.

Lastly, after I shave, if I get out of the shower and it's cold (and I get goosebumps), my legs don't feel smooth anymore. For this reason, I like to make the water a bit cool (this makes the hair stand straight up). When your hair stands up, you get a very close shave. It isn't as comfortable in the shower, but then I turn the water warmer afterwards!

Also, use a good lotion to keep your skin smooth. Some help you shave less often, though I'm not sure which brands still make this. I also have an epilator, which plucks out the hairs. It takes a lot longer and seems to never grab ALL the hairs, so sometimes I use this for a good portion, then shave over the leftover. Then less grows back in, less prickles, smoother skin!
