I just wanted to repost this because I want to know if anyone else feels this way or possibly agrees with me. I wrote some of this in my last post. Sometimes I wonder if maybe it's in my head. I can't seem to go like I used to in my old apartment and house. I moved twice within the past five years, living in a house for 33 years and an apartment in a house for three. I had to move from my first house because my dad got sick and we couldn't keep it. He went into a home and then passed away five years ago. All very traumatic for me. When I lived home and even in the first apartment, I used to fill the toilet everyday with formed easy to pass stools, the result of Metamucil every nite and stool softeners. I had problems going into stores or shopping because I would get the urge alot from excitement and it wasn't diarrhea, it was stools but this would happen 5 or 6 times, making it hard to shop. The doctors have not addressed this issue at all. The doctors can't tell me why this has changed ie. the need for laxatives and why the change. One doctor said these things just get worse. I did stop the metamucil for a while. But I have issues sometimes with privacy ( in my apt. the bathrooms are back to back with the adjoining apt.and I can hear my neighbor. It's almost like being in a public restroom)It's also very small. I live with my mom and only have one bathroom, I was used to always having my own which i think changed my habits as well. Could this all be in my mind? I'm really not happy here. What do you guys think?
Also do any of you suffer with urges when you go out, ie. a shopping store? This doesn't seem to happen to me going anywhere else. I always get butterflies when clothes or food shopping.
Could this all be in my mind?
By the way I'm 37 and have suffered all my life with bathroom problems, when I was little my mom would make me wait to go until I got home from school and never let me use public toilets. I used to hold it alot as a child and teen. I had gastroentritis on ad off since I was two and it was painful. I was hospitalized once at 2yrs and again in my 30's.
Sorry to write so much!
Thanks again,
mich

Mich,
There is a connection between your mind and bowels that is well documented in medical literature. Diarrhea is helped by taking a very small dose of an anti-depressant.
The problem with anxiety while shopping can be help with other medication.
My thoughts are you need the minerals that help you relax -- like calcium, magnesium and vitamin D3. And, it is still difficult to get over wanting privacy. It certainly is mentally connected just because of the way you were raised and you seem to want a comfort zone like we all do and one that you had most of your life.
Physically:
To have normal BMs a person needs 25 to35 mgm of fiber daily.
It also needs to be a combination of soluble fiber and insoluble fiber.
There is a post I wrote that is in the Informatiom Archives -- page 2 post #8 about Normal BMs -- I think you should read.
I wish you well---Harry
