My husband and I are TTC. We have a wonderful 4 year old son, but we desperately want him to have siblings. My husband and I are both adopted and we are looking into that option. Has anyone else looked into it? We don't have much money and are afraid we wouldn't be able to afford it.

In the city where I live, we have a program called foster-adopt. It's similar to foster care, the licensing is the same, but the Dept. of Social and Health Services places babies who they are pretty sure will be taken away or will need permanent placement with families designated as foster-adopt. I know people of moderate income who went that route and got a baby girl- I think she was about 9 months when they got her. I'm not sure how much the court fees are to adopt, but if you don't have the lawyer retainer fee that you would normally have in an adoption situation, it would be much cheaper.

I wish babies for you.

I found out it was $30-40,000 to adopt. I went to a site and had them mail me information. I also read they do not want you to go through infertility while going through the adoption process. So me and my DH have decided to continue fertility for another 2 1/2 years while saving our penny's. If we are not pregnant by then (my 34 birthday) we are going to stop fertility and adopt. And also continue ttc on our own.
