Please help! This is my first DI, and I'm doing it at home. I picked up the tank and vials today to perform the insemination at home, but no instructions were included, except on how to thaw the specimen. Has anyone else done this at home? What did you use and where did you get the device to deliver the semen. Help!!!!

There are several sites that offer the information all youhave to do is do a search.
Another thing is you can call the clinic you got your semen from and ask them what to do. Or call your doctor and see what information your doctor has for you.

Thanks, but too late to order anything now, today is the day, 1st insemination, and then 2nd tomorrow night, yikes, Sunday, which means nothing is open. I have Kaiser Permanente health ins. which means no Dr. to call or ask questions, Kaiser will not even sign the release papers to obtain donor sperm, because they do not cover any infertility issues including signing an authorization for release of sperm. I used an out of town Dr. to sign the cryobank papers, no exam, not my Dr.cannot call and ask them. The cryobank just sells sperm, and when I asked about instructions when I picked it up they said, they are inside, I thought they meant insemination instructions, but they were only instructions on how to thaw the semen. Thanks for you help anyway, that was nice of you to respond.

Do a search for at home insemination and that should give you the info you need.

Missmel,..,

Hi I use the cryobank also.., and I have always thought of doing the insemination myself.., but did know if i could really do it or not --- But I have had alot of IUI's and all they use is a long seringe..,well it's a seringe with a long straw-like attacked to it..., you can get them from a fertility clinic I guess...., I hope you found something by now and I hope it's not too late ..., lots and lots of luck -- keep me posted !!! I kepted a couple of seringes from my IUI -- so who know's maybe I will have the gusts to try it my self.., Baby dust to you !! and as for Twins.., Post --- I really don't think she was making fun or anything..., I think she just worded things wrong --- this is really a good site for support -- !!!

I was artifical Insem.. I am now 26 weeks with a boy! This does work. I used a cyrobank out east. Now here is what you do. Go to Target or anywhere that has a pharmacy. Then what you do is ask them if they have any seringe (spell) With out needles. Tell them you would like a long one if they have it. Not nessasary though. They will give you one for free. Then take it and suck up the sperm, and lay down on the floor with your back and butt propped up along the bed. Insert it slow, and squeeze it out slow, because you don't want the bubbles. Stay like that until your legs feel like they are going to fall asleep then you can get up. Some will come out, but don't worry, thats only a little ammount, the rest is your fluid inside of you. I hope this works for you! GOOD LUCK http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
