There are all kinds of ear drops at the store or drugstore, I prefer the new one that sprays backwards.

Hydrogen peroxide is the main ingredient in most over the counter ear wax cleaner kits. I use straight hydrogen peroxide often to clean my ears on a cotton swab, placing the swab at the opening of the canal and squeezing the swab against it. You can hear it bubbling and breaking down the wax. If the buildup is really severe, I would use a kit, which may contain better tools for removal.

You can get ear candles at some health food stores. Don't laugh--I did when my little sister brought some over--they really work--you won't believe all the junk that comes out. Just ask the owner of the health food store how to use them. God Bless You and Yours Today and EveryDay precious49
