Hi everyone! I have just been diagnosed today with Pcos and Insulin Resistance. I have suspected for a while that i had pcos because of my symptoms. I have been researching it for about a year now. Have been lurking here for quite some time and have read post about pcos and insulin resistance. Even though i have suspected pcos, i was hoping i didn't have it and now am kind of "stunned and numb". My symptoms are: lots of hair in male areas, absent periods, high blood pressure, overweight, elevated testosterone, hair loss, anxiety and depression....etc... I've only had one period on my own when i was 14, am now 32, after the first period i never had another one. Then onto birth control pills for years until developing HBP and then put on Provera. I went to a new gyno in Aug., he did some blood work, which showed the elevated testosterone and an internal ultrasound. I do not have any cysts and the lining of my uterus was thin, which he said was good to know. He said he didn't think that i had pcos but sent me to an endo and she found it with all of the bloodwork she did. So, here i am, "stunned and numb" and don't know what to think or do... endo did put me on a low dose of Glucophage XR today. Have been on the Provera from the new gyno since Aug. I would really appreciate some advice from the ladies that have pcos and IR. I am married, but have not decided whether or not we want children. Sorry this was so long and sounds kinda crazy.....i just feel so overwhelmed right now.....Thanks for listening..... Dawn
