Do you think I am within my rights to ask for a refund from my dentist for the work he did that resulted in an infection from a cut he made on my cheek. 3 days after he prescribed amoxicillan I had to go for intervenus clindamycin because the swelling was going into my throat. Then I had to get a clindamycin prescription. I have now spent $125. for antibiotics and in addition I am on my third bottle of ibroprofen in nine days. Still my face is swollen. I am going back to see the dentist tomorrow.

You would probably be more within your rights to ask for reimbursement of medical expenses than reimbursement of the cost of his work - he performed a service and completed it so he is entitled to the fee he charged for such but the complications resulting from his negligence in cutting your cheek which most likely was unintentional ( certainly not from incompetance I would hope) - well he possibly should/could be held accountable.

I would question though why you developed such a severe infection from a cut to the cheek - is it that his instruments were not sterile - in that case maybe you should not return, or that your oral hygeien routine is not up to par - or that your immune system is compromised in some way due to other medical conditions in which you may need to take precautionary measures before having future dental work done.
