I hope someone can give me some advise. I had a tooth taken out last Friday. It has now been 5 days and the gum is still sore also I am still taking pain killers 2 to 3 times a day as I feel a aching pain. My mouth is uncomfortable when I lay down. Should I go back to the dentist or wait a little longer? Im not sure how long the pain normally lasts.
Any advise will help.
Thanks

Was it one of the back teeth? And was there any abscesses when it was pulled?
I had two teeth pulled last year towards the back, I had a dull ache like pain for 2 weeks. I think part of that is because those are bigger teeth and usually harder to come out. Then you add on the extra force to get it out it can be achey for awhile. Plus you might have bits of tooth fragments working their way out. Wed. I had 4 teeth pulled in the front and really have had no pain.
Also I hear if there are abscesses there it can make for a more painful recovery. Me I would wait, if I hit 2 weeks and still felt achey I would call.

Thank you. The tooth was near the front. There was no infection before. But I must say I have had no pain killers this morning even though the gum is still sore to touch. So hopefully it is on the mend.
