Hi,
I just came back from seeing my ENT dr. He was trying to rule out menier's. Ive had 2 hearing tests, & 3 MRI's.
They were normal. Mt last "episode" was july 27th...I was watching TV. & had 4 VERY bad spells over the corse of 5 hours or so.
The room would spin, dble vision, & ALOT of nausea..I took a bonamine, but it didnt help...which really surprised me!
Dr said It MAY be "Anxiety"??? I cant even imagine..but that is what he thinks, He gave me a script for "hydrodiuril"..for water retention?

Please can someone relate to my symptoms?..How can I avoid stress & anxiety in my life? Its crazy!
Are there any side effects to this drug?...Im abit worried b/c my blood pressure is LOW to begin with.
Thanks for any advice!

Sounds very much like viral labyrinthitis - there are a few threads regarding this on the board. Have a look and see if your symtoms match up. Nothing will show up in tests unfortunately. Good luck and try not to panic too much. I've suffered from it and after 10 months I'm starting to finally feel better - balance still not 100% but much better.

Well, Its only been 10 days of taking the "diuretic"..ive been dizzy every day since!!! It really bites, the side effects are HORRID.

What to do??? should I give it a few more wks? OR..has it been long enough to tell weather it has helped(or not)?
yesterday I woke up with a rash all over my legs~
Im not sure if its related?..but Ive never had this before!
I want to go back to my ENT...just curious about what he will try next?

I had a bad reaction to the diuretics...rash on legs!
I saw my ENT 2day, & he is as stumped as I am as to why Im dizzy?
I am getting a referal to see a neurologist.
What should I expect as far as tests go? Im not very optimistic.
What do neurologists treat anyway??
~thanks for any advice

The good news is I havent had a spinning spell in over 10 days!!! No nausea,no ear buzzing, no double vision!
I hope the nuerologist doesnt think Im wasting his time...;(
Good luck with your appointment..when is it for??

Geeez...what a waste of time..(kinda)..LOL
I saw the "specialist" today...He tested some presure points, eye & balance tests..etc..
He said I had less hearing in my right ear, I cant remember what its called.(brain fog)..But I felt sooo rushed you cant imagine!!
My appoint. was at NOON. He was so busy typing my lifes history on the puter. He said to have another MRI in 6 months b/c the last one was not "conclusive"???
Im sooo sick of this. Im no better off now. But it cant be THAT serious if it takes 6 months to see him again!
I wish I could be more specific. Im gonna try to get a copy of the report from my dr.

~~take care...

i looked up hydrodiuril in a drug guide for nurses and it can give you nausea, vomiting, rashes and dizziness...so go figure....i tell everyone to get a medicine book to look up things

I had the same symptoms and it turned out I had a condition called Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. It was almost impossible to diagnose but easy to treat. After months of feeling "dizzy" or "off"... my ears started feeling full and painful. This was when I pin pointed the cause.

Much of what you are experiencing IS anxiety realated, but remember... you anxiety comes from feeling dizzy, not the other way around.

Well, my GP said..the specialist thinks I MAY have Positional Vestibular Vertigo?
I dont think he really knows? http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif Ive been taking "Celexa" for a week..at nite, & Ive been waking up at 3 & 4;am every nite ...NOT good!!
If I take it in the day,,I feel spacy! & 20 mg. is the lowest dose
Should I try 10mg at nite & see what happens?
~Any advice? ~TY

Sonic:

After a month now, how is the Celexa. I've been having true blue PANIC attacks as well as the bouts of vertigo and the regular old anxiety squishy floor dizziness. I can't take it, so I need to try something to hopefully help the panic attacks. Effexor can raise BP, so I can't take that and I've already had a bad reaction to Paxil which seems like it helps everything under the sun. Sigh . . .. Celexa may be next, since I looked up Prozac and it doesn't help with anxiety attacks, so I figure sheer panic attacks are not helped either http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif(

Amos,
I hope your doing better?
Its been 2 months on the Celexa...& yes things have gotten better. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
although it took a while) I used to have EXTREME mood swings, they have really tapered off. I havent had any "major" dizzy spells. (knock on wood) Just a few minor ones. Im still on the 20mg. I dont think I need stronger.
Have you tried anything new?

Personally don't think V Labrynthitis would create intermittent dizziness - it is constant. Could be ETD or Menieres.

Emsybobs...
What is the test for ETD? I have had so many others..cat scan, mri, eng...Im to get another mri in Feb.
Anywho...The dizzys are back for about 10 days now..I thought i was gonna be ok with the celexa..but NO ;(
But now..I dont have any "hearingloss" while Im having a dizzy spell.
The room spins & I get VERY nauseated(sp)..so Im wondering about the hearing thing...weird huh?
Also,,,Ive noticed looking at patterns set it off,,or scrolling on the comp..
Any suggestions?
Thanks~~
