First of all I am so sorry that so many people have to suffer like that> this is really feels like hell.
My problem started 6 weeks ago with a stomach flu and a very bad muscle ache in my neck> couple days after I was in the brain fog> I did not know what is going on> I could not sleep on right side first becasue my neck and after becasue I got dizzy and nauses. I could not go shopping becasue this strange foggyness/dizziness got worse in the store> definetely when I looked around. My right ear was very plugged at the beginning but it feels better now.> My ENT said it is viral labyrinthitis first but after my ENG test (which had confusing results) she said it is probaly vestibular neuritis. She ordered an MRI which is scheduled next week (she said just for the piece of mind)> certainly I am very nervous about it.
I had few good days during the last couple weeks and the foggyness is clear up but I am still dizzy if I have to drive or walk around> not serious but enough to make me nauses. I also have a positional problem I still can sleep on my right side but the last couple days lying even on the left side or conpletely horizontal made me nauses. I sleep straight on 3 pillows. I was reading your posts and you said that accepting the problem is the first step> I am working on that and try to be patient with my body.
Any comments or suggestion are very appriciated. If you have similar problem and want to chat please email me at piros63@yahoo.com or leave me a message here< I would love to talk to you.
Wishing everybody quick recovery.

I was told that labyrinthitis is the virus which leads to vestibular neuritis. Anyone else received that explanation?

Angel I will forward the websites to you, they are really informative. About your blocked ear I had that and I got an amino acid called N-acetyl cystein which is a very safe way to decongest you ear> I think you can buy it in healthfood store. It really worked form me it cleared the congestion without making me drowsy.
And in my case I started with labyrintihtis but I think now my vestibular nerves has a problem. Somehow being horizontal (lying in the bed) is the worse which really makes my sleep miserable.

For Jen30

..."I was told that labyrinthitis is the virus which leads to vestibular neuritis. Anyone else received that explanation?"......

There is some medical research(by Northwestern Univ & others) that indicates that a viral infection of the labyrinth(labyrinthitis)--leads to a further infection of the 8th nerve(vestibular nerve)--which goes by the name ov "vestibular neuritis"---that happens. There is also medical research that indicates that labyrinthitis can cause BPPV.

If you search the web for Northwestern Univ. & Inner Ear you should come up with it.

I would post it here but that does not seem to be allowed--by the guidlines.
