View Full Version : ear pain when blowing nose?

I am having pain in one of my ears when I blow my nose or just for no reason. It doesn't last long, so I'm not in that much pain, but I am concerned. It also hurts when I block my ear with my finger (I do this in the shower when rinsing my hair). Any idea what this might be? I've never had any trouble with ear infections all my life, although I have been told that I have wax build-up, and once a doctor had me put drops of peroxide in my ears. I am wondering if the pressure of wax may be contributing to the pain?

I have been diagnosed with Labrynthitis, and I take Meclizine when needed. I hadn't been taking it much lately until about the time my ears started bothering me (2 weeks ago, then went away, then came back this weekend).

I hesitate to go the doctor because she is not a specialist and will probably just give me an antibiotic, which I don't want unless absolutely necessary. Should I try the ear drops first? Could wax build-up cause dizziness?? My Labrythitis symptoms are mild compared to those of others I have read here! I can (usually) function on a 'bad' day.
