I was just approved for ss and I have a mandatory settlement hearing coming up with workcomp. I haven't told my workcomp attorney I was approved for ss, should I tell him? I feel if I tell him he won't work as hard for me anymore and settle for his best interests. Any suggestions? Thank you

Hi
yes tell both lawyers, WC and SS lawyer if you have a SS lawyer. I too had the same situation. I know any pay you get from SS you will have to pay back to WC. Your WC lawyer needs to know before any settlement is issued. He or she can write into the settlement papers about your SS benefits. They can take money out of your ss checks a little at a time over your life time. Example- I had to pay back 10,000 so they are taking 25.00 out of my check to pay this back. This is better than taking the whole 10,000 at once. I am sure your lawyer can explain this. Also you winning SS is a good proof for your WC claim. Good luck to you.

Thanks for your replies, they've been very helpfull. I'll be sure to let my wc attorney know tomorrow. I can't believe I would have to payback wc. They've treated me so bad since the beggining of my case, from denying my case to delaying hearings. I still don't have a dr. and they won't approve one. I can't believe they can get away in not approving a dr. from their "own list". I'm going on 15 months since they took my dr. away. Maybe I can bring this up to the judge at the hearing? I'd like them to at least get fined for this behavoir. I just want them out of my life!!! Thanks again
