I recently had a crown put on a back tooth a year after having a root canal, for whatever reason I just didn't get it done right away as I should have. Fortunately my dentist was able to save the tooth as it was chipped & decayed. he was to place a crown on it. Since then I'm experiencing an awful taste in my mouth, it's hard to describe but it also causing me to get a little nausea at times. This has been on going for 2 weeks now with no relief. I also had a teeth cleaning just a week ago, only on my bottom teeth. He put me on an antibiotic just in case of any bacteria. Has anyone experienced this at all ?

I have more crowns than I can count, and while there is usually a strange taste in my mouth for the first day or two after the permanent crown is placed, it goes away after that. (I'm not sure if it's the cement they use or the metal the porcelain is fused to)

I would say 2 weeks is an awfully long time to still have issues with a crown. One question might be: is the crown on an upper tooth? Perhaps it there is some residual cement that is causing a bad taste that a good cleaning might take care of? It's a huge stretch, though.

My suggestion would be to bring it to the dentist's attention. There might be some small infection that is causing the bad taste.
