View Full Version : Weird spinning last night

Hi All, last night I woke up and the room was spinning, never really had this before, not true vertigo. I tred to lie on bth sides and my left was ok but my right felt awful. BPPV I immediately thought! Was obviously worried that this spinning would stay and I would wake up in the morning with not just disequilibrium but vertigo! This morning it was much better but "normal" dizzies have been worse today and I have a feeling of being pulled to my right (like you described Ruth). Lying on my right side now seems to be ok. Any advice? I am thinking I am just going through a "bad spell" again but why the weird dizzies at night?

Hi Bobs,
God only knows what is going on in our bodies at the moment. Am sorry you had such horrible spinning last night - perhaps it could be BPPV? I wish I could say something positive to help, but am in a mess myself at the mo - can you believe it, the dizziness has all but disappeared this week, but I have developed tinnitus in my right ear and am totally freaked out by this. Am feeling like I'm at the end of my tether - sure you know how this feels. It's weird how you got this spinning feeling for the first time - it's like me and the visual disturbances - I had none for the first 4 months - then they just happened over one weekend - then never got any again. It's possible it's as a result of your brain compensating and working extra hard to right itself that you got this funny episode. Am praying so hard for this all to end - I would do literally anything at the moment to make this damn thing go away. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

HI Ruth, Emsybobs,

Seems we have all hit a low at the same time. Terrified out of my wits at the moment. Got the dreadful drilling in ear tinnitus again last night, woke up in the night with it, managed to calm it down with valium. By the way Ruth, checked out some tinnitus info - valium can often quieten tinnitus down - only problem is if you use it you might decompensate from the dizzies - as it sedates the vestibular nerve, (not sure) just a thought thought if you're desperate. I am also getting a new dizzy sensation, like something is trying to pull me round and to the left, terrified this is going to turn in to a total spin out - which would probably mean a more scarey diagnosis for me. Does this sound familiar - is this what you mean by being pulled?

Am going to the doc tommorow to talk about anxiety meds - have had enough. Phoned the hospital about if the drugs for the tmjd are making the dizzies worse, they haven't rung back yet - talked to the consultants secretary.

Funny how we seem to be doing symptom swap - tinnitus/vertigo/being pulled around, I'm scared of going to sleep as I no longer know what the morning holds. I would give anything - anything for this to go away.
