Hey, Hbep, I was wondering if you got any relief from the saline nasal spray (I saw your post from a while ago in the hearing disorder board)...I am thinking about trying it cause it really isn't harmful right?? I read something interesting on another forum that cured someones tinnitus...here goes - soak a few cloves of garlic in olive oil for 2 hours then heat the oil. put about 5 drops in each ear with an eye dropper and put cotton in both ears and then go to sleep. In the morning mix half rubbing alcohol with have white vinegar and put 3 drops in one ear let sit for a minute and tilt head to let solution drain, repeat with other ear. Garlic is very anti viral and olive oil aids in the healing process...I am thinking about trying that but, haven't had the guts to yet...let me know what you think...Gwen

Hi there Gwen,

Sorry not to get back sooner, been a bad few days. If you saw my post to Graciecat on eustachian tube dysfunction I recommended the saline spray to her. It has to be said, I only did this because she has been diagnosed with ETD, there IS definitely fluid in her ears. I tried the saline spray prior to realising I didn't have ETD but TMJD (tempero mandibular joint disorder) it is muscular spasm that is making my e tubes feel closed off. As a consequence it made me worse. I think I just sent the muscles in to greater spasm. If you have ETD it can, from what I've read really hlep. See Graciecat's result with this under the topic I mentioned above. By the way, popping and cracking in the ears and what feels like pain in the glands in your neck is common for tmjd. Just a thought.

There are so many hypothesised caused of tinnitus that I'm guessing the person who tried the cure for tinnitus you mentioned just got lucky and her outer ear canal was involved. Anything causing it beyond that, past the ear drum (cuts off the outer ear from the middle/inner ear) won't be affected as the solution would not get through.

Gwen,

I have ETD and started doing the saline spray on Tuesday.
It's worked out great for me.
I feel almost normal again...about 75% better in only three days.
