a friend recently told me that he has really violent thoughts when around people, wanting to harm them in various ways, including his family. I've googled a few things and it seems to point towards OCD. At the minute he doesn't want to get professional help, so its kind of down to me at the minute to make sure he at least doesn't get worse. Does anyone have any advice or ideas as to how i could help him. I could really do with the help!

Thanks

I don't think OCD is the answer you are looking for. I think I would be very careful around this 'friend' of yours who has thoughts of harming pretty much anyone ...including you. I think if I were you I would tell your friend that you can't be around him until he gets professional mental health help. Newspapers are full of headline news about family member killing parents and whomever happened to be in the way. Don't even think this 'friend' wouldn't harm you as well. The best you can do is just stop being around him until he gets the help he so desperately needs!..and you can help him by staying away from him until he gets help...a little tough love. Did he ever kill any animals when he was young?

no, he has never acted on his thoughts and he always feels terrible about thinking that way afterwards. i don't know if i can leave him right now as i'm the only person who knows and that can help him, I'm trying to get him to get professional help, he's just scared of taking the first step.
