Because you get it only in the spring, it is blatantly down to allergies - have you tried antihistamine? Have you see an ENT? He may suggest steps you can take - perhaps tubes in your ears to help the blocked feeling. It does not sound like Menieres at all. xxx

Hello Traclou,

Welcome to the board. I am also dealing with ear fullness caused by fluid in my left ear. I also in the last two years before my ear disorder had severe sinus infections. The anxiety is also really bad and I to don't want to drive or go shopping for long periods.

I would also reccomened seeing a good ENT doctor. Most likely antibiotics will be perscribed and or a antihistamine. If you have chronic OTTIS MEDIA (middle ear fluid, behind ear drum)as I do, sometimes the doctor may want to place a tube in your ear to drain it out.

Also, keep up your spirits as much as possible.

Stay positive,

doyle

I have Meniere's disease and the feeling you have 2 to 4 months out the year, I have every day of my life. I am so sorry that you have to experience this at all. I am only 24 and have two children. I understand the fear. I recently(2 weeks ago) had an acident, my children were not with me. I was on my way to pick them up. I was going about 25 miles an hour and all of a sudden went into "la la land" and my car started to spin and hit a bank. I would never tell anyone what truly happened due to pride I guess. I used to get complimented on how quick witted I was, no longer. I have learned to deal with the way things are. I am now very causcious. I hope you find out what is going on and I wish you luck.

I have battled feeling sick and feeling spacey now for almost 2 years. I have noticed that my right ear has been pluged up. I have seen several doctors and a specialist. They tell me I have ETD ( estasian tube disfucntion ) and I am having panic attacks. This is not like me, I have always enjoyed life and having fun. In the first year of feeling sick, I would not go anywhere in fear of getting sick in front of people. I would stay at home camped out at the toilet, or in bed, or simply doing anything I could not to feel sick, afraid to go anywhere. I would cry all the time and worry that I may have something seriously wrong with me like cancer. I would pray every night to become a stronger person and to stop feeling so afraid. I could tell that my kids were feeling sorry for me. They would always ask if I was o.k. They knew mom was feeling sick again. I knew I had to do something about this problem, I was so tired of being sick. I went to see my doctor about the attacks and he prescribed a medicine called zanix ( .05mg ) . When I feel an attack coming on that I cannot control, I would take ( 1 ) pill. For the past couple of months, I have become stronger. This seems to work most of the time. After I take the medicine I breathe deeply, calming myself down. Within 10 minutes I feel it working. The generic name for zanax is-alprazolam . Be careful, in reading about zanax, it is addictive, I only take it when I feel I am not in control to calm myself down ( before a panic attack begins ). I am getting stronger every day, in the last 4 weeks I have been to the Orlando theme parks with my family and I have been to ( 2 ) Jaquar football games. This is a big step for me. At first I am allittle scared but every time I suceed, I get stronger and stronger. Very few people understand why I have this problem and why it happens one minute when you dont expect it. It took along time for my husband to understand. You can control this feeling with medicine. Fight for your freedom again!!! Each step that you take and concour, you become stronger. I am almost at the point where I dont worry about getting sick, I just go out and have fun. My final step is to have surgery on my ear. They say that there is a 90% chance of repairing " estasian tube disfunction ".
Keep praying and have faith . I cant wait to be completely healthy again.

Yeah, if you only feel the fullness during seasons, it's probably allergies...get some antihistimines. :)

Hi,

A very good medicine for allergies is Flonase. Talk to your doctor about it.

Dawn
What is involved with the surgery for ETD?

ETD - Estasain Tube Disfunction surgery takes about 1 hour from what they tell me, they go inside the ear and cut out the part that lets fluid stay in the ear and they repair it. Its 90% effective. You can look it up on the internet or talk to an ear specialist. Its performed as an out patient surgery. It costs about $1000.00 without insurance. I dont know if my panic attacks are seperate from my ear, they say that my feeling nausia and feeling spacey it throwing of my equilibrian and it can cause panic attacks. Before I went to the ear specialist, my doctor had me try all sorts of medicine like, Flonaise, nose sprays, anahestamines, Etc, you name it. None of them worked and thats why I went to an ear specialist, they have several types of tests you can take to verify whether or not you have ETD.

Thanks Dawn for the info. I have had ETD for many years...they think. Had a ENG,MRI, EEG...etc. Every time I get a cold, I get the dizzies and then they last couple of years, the tube never straightened out and have been sick for 2 years.

Which tests can determine if you have ETD? My dizziness started last year when my alllergies got bad and went away a few months into the winter. Then I got the tinnies cold in March and the dizzies were back in April and NOW of course that my allergies are going crazy again. My original diagnosis was BPPV but my new doc said that she doesn't think it is so I have to have some brainstem test. But if ETD comes from those colds and allergies and makes you dizzy then maybe that is what I have? How would they figure that out?
