Hi,

Went back to my ENT yesterday. He did more hearing tests and said I had a little hearing loss (need to ask him again which ear) in the low ranges so he is going to be screening me for more loss. He wants to rule out Meniere's. Anyway, he also prescribed a water pill (diuretic), hydrochlorathiazide (25 mg) for possible endolymphatic hydrops (abnormal fluid fluctuations in the ear). That's because I complain only of a persistent sense of slight imbalance and floating. I am scared of pills. Anyone out there tried this?

Hi Quinn,,,
I dont know if this is the same..but I was prescribed "Hydrodiuril"..for the same reasons as you.
It made me lightheaded, & I broke out in a rash,,so NOT a good choice for me..lol
Most dr's like to rule out other things before making a diagnoises..Ive been dizzy for over 2 yrs,,they dont know why. Ive had ALL the tests,,I have a slight hearing loss,,,but I can live with that. I guess they are not concerned,,& want to test me once or twice a yr.

HI Quinn,

I've tried a diuretic for a month and it didn't help me and didn't cause any side effects.

Hello,
I just started Hydrochlorathiazide yesterday for chronic dizziness. So far I feel worse, yet I don't know if it is just because I am having a "bad" day or the drugs.
Keep in mind that it does lower your blood pressure and according to the presciption literature it can cause dizziness initially for the first few days.
I also don't like to take drugs since I tend to be hypersensitive to them. Do you know of any non drug therapies for the treatment of chronic dizziness besides the maneuvers?
