Hey,

I'm a male, 21.

I am currently experiencing pain during urination, and am also feeling pain when pressure is applied to the tip of my penis.

However...I have no cloudiness of urine, no discharge, nothing out of the ordinary except for just the burning in the tip when I urinate (pain was significantly less when i urinated just a moment ago, have been drinking more water though) It has passed my mind that it could be an STD but I am in a monogomous relationship (of course she could always be cheating on me) but that would really be my last suspect because we have a (pressumeably) strong relationship.

Obviously my first idea was that it was a UTI, but I just don't know if that's it. Has anyone else experienced such problems? I don't know if one of those home tests will work either because I am Vegan and naturally have more nitrates in my system (which is what they detect as well as white blood cells). Any ideas? could I just be overreacting here? I have had pain similar in the past but has never been quite as noticeable during urination as it is now...any input would be good.

(i'm hoping that maybe I just did something strange when I was tossing and turning in my sleep one night lol...caus I know excessive intercourse has given me pain in the past.)

p.s. also uncircumsized if that helps.

A young male with an anatomically normal urinary tract has almost NO chance of having a urinary tract infection with the same types of bugs that cause UTIs in females. That being said, as a male gets older and the prostate enlarges causing obstruction to urinary flow, UTIs become more common.

Dysuria (or pain/discomfort with urination) is possible with STIs and if you're worried you should get tested, but again, it sounds like you're in an monogamous relationship so it's less likely. Finally, if you're been having unprotected intercourse and a lot of it (nice), then that can DEFINITELY cause irritation at the urethral meatus (i.e. the opening of the urethra) and generally the irritation goes away in a few days of "resting". How long have these symptoms been going on? Have you been having a lot of sex recently (unprotected OR protected?)

Another thing that uncircumcised men can get is a yeast infection. Do you have any "little red bumps" on the head of your penis?

My advise would be to see your PCP and have a urinalysis done to test for a UTI.

Take Care,

Excessive sexual activity would usually be my main suspect too, but it's been at least 4 days since I had intercourse. No little red bumps either. As I said, everything seems completely normal, except for the burning. I'll look into a yeast infection I guess and see what the deal is with those.
