Well I'm new to this so bear with me.....around the first of November of last year I had a dizzy spell that lasted a few minutes and then went away. Since then I have had occassional "dizzy" spells, although it's not really dizziness so to speak. I have read here on site, where several people have described a "dream-like" state or an unsteady, swaying, heavy head feeling. There has also been the occasional "buzzing" in my head, and I have often times felt pressure on and off in my sinuses. I can get really congested at times, but seem to produce no mucus or discharge of any kind.....I blow my nose and nothing comes out. But yet I still feel stopped up.......then on other days I can breathe freely.....also it feels like pressure, or at least I think it to be pressure, around the ears, and I have had a bout with TNJ......there's also the swaying or rocking feeling....but the worse of the symptoms has to be the "unreal" or "distant" feeling that I so often get. It's as if I'm too wide eyed, things around me get to be too much to take in at once. I also read where one person described part of it as coming inside after being out on a bright day..........like there's a dimness to your surroundings. All of this compiled on top of each other thus causes unbelievable anxiety which only increases the effects of what I'm already feeling.......I guess my question is, could this all have started and still continue to be from an inner ear infection or perhaps sinus infection of some sorts?
I have an appointment with an ENT specialist later this month, but I don't know if that's the direction I need to go....just searching for a friendly ear to listen to my problems, and offer any advice...........

The short answer is-yes. But you need to get it checked out by the ENT. Got many of the same problems--all track back to a viral infection right inner ear about six months ago. But inorder to help you understand it and--also--to have a more productive conversation with the ENT--you need to go here:
http://www.pneuro.com/publications/dizzy/bppv.html
grab a cup of (whatever) sit down an read it--it starts with the basics--it seems like a lot but it is worth it--because most ENT's are not up in this area--and unless you take the time to get a grip on it--you stand the chance of the ENT not getting it right--and that can mean big prob's. You will see as you read many of the things you outlined above.
Good Luck!
Oh--forgot--after many mistakes(by me and Doc's) and much research on my part--it came down to BPPV for me--and after six months--coming back to where I used to be.

On top of being an inner ear problem, a lot of people with allergies has described the same symptoms as you - check the allergy section - it could also be due to anxiety check that out also.
Good luck.

I've had the same problem for about a week now & am about to go absolutely crazy. Its a "ligtheadedness" or a disconnectedness feeling like being in a dream state. I've got a sinus & inner ear infection now & assume that its related to this feeling, although my nose is not that runny or anything. Its also wierd that it seems your perception of time (especially past events) is thrown off. Have you noticed this also? Something I did this morning seems like it was done days ago.
I saw your post in Jan. Are you still dealing with this?

Hi pisces_71
It's a long time since you posted your message...I hope you don't mind me replying...
Did you ever get that 'far away' feeling diaganosed - how are your ears now? I'm asking because I have been experiencing the same 'distant' feelings. They usually last a week or so when I am very dizzy and it's SCARY! I posted on this board back in May:

but would really appreciate a reply if you are still out there!!!
