Well, running has NEVER been my forte. I really need cardio but there is no pool or anything around here and I can't afford a gym membership. What should I do?

How about exercise DVD's. You could also try jumping jacks, jumping rope, dancing, or anything that gets you moving and keeps your heart rate up.

Outside the gym (besides running): bicycling, stair climbing (actual stairs), swimming (in pool or lake), rowing (boat), paddling (boat). Bicycling (as well as running) can be used to go places. If you work in a multistory building, you can walk up the stairs instead of using the elevator.
Inside the gym: most of the above have gym machines (or facilities like a pool for swimming) to simulate. Rowing and swimming are full body exercises as opposed to just lower body exercise.

If you don't like running, how about speed walking? Or perhaps walk/run combo...as in walk for 1min, then jog for 4min, repeat until you've reached either your goal time or distance.

I can get my heart rate up on the stationary bike; but I also to Aerobics - both are great for cardio.

I love to run but when I can't, I jump rope. You can get in a great cardio workout in just 10-15 minutes. You'll be surprised how fast this gets your heartrate up!
