I've been getting better slowly, but the quality of my work and my ability to engage in work activity just sucks. I quit a job and took a contract position which runs out soon leaving me unemployed and I wonder, how do people work effectively while dealing with long bouts of labyrinthitis and vestibular problems?

Hi - when I was really bad with Lab's the concept of working scared me. Luckily for me the office was close to home and I was working only part time. At first when I went back I was scared but it did help. I could get really absorbed in my work (luckily I was sitting) and it would act as a distraction from the symptoms. I actually improved alot returning to work - it really diminished the brain fog too. It sounds daft but I would write myself messages on paper and keep them in my pocket. For example 'OK - this may all feel really scary but it is not dangerous - I am OK etc etc' that way if I started to feel anxious with the feelings it would put me back on track and stopped my mind adding to the anxiety. In time the symptoms - the owrst of them any way - will dramatically improve. Good Luck.
