Hi there, just to say that I am not a doctor, what I said was based purely on my knowledge of physiology.

Using the same knowledge I would say that yes, it is normal to get this in only one ear, the tube on only one side has been blocked. You should also get your hearing back once the underlying problem is remedied.

As for the lusonex, I think this is a decongestant but I'm afraid I'm not familiar with it as to the best of my knowledge it is not used in the UK (or if it is it has a different name!).

As I said before, from a good exam of your ear drum your Dr should really be able to be fairly sure in his diagnosis of such a middle ear problem. Take the medication he has given you for the length of time he said, and if the problem does'nt go away in this time, or gets worse then go back to see him.

As for the expected course, your Dr is the person to tell that having examined you. Otherwise you might have a bit more luck on the "hearing disorders" board as your problem really is not inner ear related.

Hope you feel better soon xx
