Subs, I know you did your own VRT and you are aware of most of what I am doing. I was just wondering if you might share some of your ideas on what you did for VRT on your own. I know you didn't care for the VRT therapy at the clinic. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Did you do any of the exercises that you can get off of the internet or were you just creative like I am trying to be. I found that the eyes closed drunk test going uphill is alot harder than on a flat surface, got pretty close to the ditch the other night. The dogs probably thought, "oh cool, moms going to get a drink where we do" fortunately my eyes opened in time. Anyway, when you get a chance because you are just such a busy popular guy around hear I would appreciate any of your input.

Thanks
Kathy

Scant,

'Oh cool, Mom's going to get a drink where we do' - hysterical - can't stop laughing. Thanks for putting a smile on my face. Sorry, Scant, thought I better come back and edit this as I realised it might sound like I was laughing at you nearly falling in to a ditch - obviously that isn't the case. I just love dogs and often also wonder what they imagine is going on. People must seem really strange to them sometimes.

best,

hbep.

Hi Kathy

Right now I am doing these four times a day(or more:

http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/Forum72/HTML/000833.html

I have others---if you want them---but these seem to get the job done---of course like you I do the walk with the dog(eyes open & closed)---plus the mowing/weedwacker junk---room painting etc...usual stuff---all-in-all staying between 99.x and 100%---so far(knock on wood)---but still have this feeling that I am not out of the woods yet.

How are you doing????

Hi subs:
I was having a pretty good spurt of staying in between 85 -90% and then the day before yesterday could feel myself sliding back. Yesterday morning was pretty uncomfortable I'd say I felt about 70% but in the late afternoon forced myself to take a long hike and started to feel much better by the end of the hike. I'm taking this day by day but I know that my spirits are usually much better towards the afternoon.
You sounded a little off or down in your post but you certainly sound very close to and end. I sure hope you are.

all the best
Kathy

Kathy

Did not mean to sound down---feel really good----something "clicked" yesterday evening---not sure what---but---stopped thinking about any movements I made---just went out of my mind---moved and never gave it a thought----really weird---wonder if it was one of the last vision patterns---locking in.

Your close---can tell from your posts!!

For me---it was like going up a hill----it was slow going---then hit the crest---and started down---picking up speed---sort of like the saying "Over the hill & picking up speed"----gee just thought---hope there is nothing in the road---{:-)

Great I'm glad you're feeling wonderful. I just took the dogs out to do whatever...and that is my morning test to see how may day is going to go, I think it's going to be a pretty darn good day. The blackberries are really staring to turn here, it's the only thing my husband has to cook once a year is blackberry jam, it is my absolute favorite. Anyway I was thinking Subs, because you have seen alot in life, had many more experiences than most of us have, have probably been through some really rough times, How would you relate your battle with Lab. in comparison to your lifes experiences. You don't have to answer but was just curious because this has been my toughest battle in life. They used to call me the little Geztapo (sp) at work because I basically ran everything. I could either be very diplomatic or if I needed to repeat myself constantly could be very abrupt. But I was truly respected by all my workers and some of us were very close. I just wonder when this all comes to an end, how I will be changed. I think this will make me stronger or more able to handle other obstacles in life better but I think this has also made me more compassionate. It really made me take a step back and look at the people who mean the world to me and to really see how even more special they are. The people that I have met on this board has been a wonderful. Just rambling Subs...... Have a great day!

what is VRT?----Eric--

VRT - Vestibular Rehabilitation Training - just exercises that aim to do just what it says rehabilitate the inner ear or rather brain to become less sensative to mixed messages and hopefullr reduce the symptoms over the long term. There are some kinda complicated terms I am sure Subs can fill ya in.

I can tell your getting better and I appreciate the question and its intent---However, I'm going to answer your question---tangentially.

Submariners are healthy skeptics. They take new ideas
with a grain of salt and, generally avoiding theoretical discourse. When confronted with theory, the Submariner asks, "What use does it have in combat?" Theory for the sake of theory evokes only a bored look.

While generally optimistic and sympathetic to positive
thinking, Submariners cast a suspicious eye on advocates of utopias. They do not expect perfection (at least in this world); although they believe in visions of a future they believe it will be worthy of
today's commitment and hard work.

Based on the hard-earned lessons of experience, Submariners eschew the quick cure and believe that visions become reality through perseverance: Chip away at problems, take a day at a time, and hope for the best while expecting the worst. It was probably a
Submariner who invented Murphy's Law--"whatever
can go wrong will"--Not out of fatalism, but as a reminder that life and combat are unpredictable.

-----Never thought of it the way you put it in your question---it's just something to overcome---an obstacle along the way!

I'm glad your getting better---your going to beat this Kathy---you are closer today then yesterday---lot of hard work and effort going on there--nice going!!!

I liked your reply Subs. Kathy,I have thought about it and it is amongst the top 2 hardest thing I've ever had to deal with. Ok, I am only 23...but the length of time this has gone on for has played a big part in my thinking this is the case. I am a great believer in "adversity creates positive changes" and I have learnt more this year than in any other year of my life. Thats not to say I am always positive, I have depressed, emotional, worried and felt lonely. But I believe this is sent to me for a reason and I must battle through it and will emerge the other side, a stronger and different person. xxx
