"Why do antihistamines keep me awake?"
if i take tylenol pm or advil pm or even benedryl it speeds me up. My pulse elevates. I realize it may be a type of allergic reaction but i suffer from no other symptions. Why is this? is there a medical term for it?

dont' know the name, but my neighbor si the same way. She is allergic to a lot of things and usually has to take someone with her when she goes to Dentist or some where to REMIND them not to give benadryl if she reacts to something else

I don't know the medical term for it either but some people are just more sensitive to antihistamines. Most of the PM meds contain benadryl (diphenhydramine). That's what helps you to sleep. A possible side effect of benadryl is heart palpitations, increased BP, nervousness, etc. Since you are sensitive to it, I suggest you stay away from them or take a decreased dosage. I find I can tolerate the suggested child's dosage for some OTC medications. I wish you well.
