Is it true there is currently no test for males for High Risk HPV? I understand it is easy to detect low risk HPV in men on account if genital warts are present but if there is no symptoms, how can women be sure their men are HPV free if there is no test? It kinda sucks if you take all the safeguards and get yourself screened for STD's and HPV and your partner does also except for HPV if there is no test? I was told by my gynecologist that there is no test. Is this true?

Yes, it is true that there is currently no test for men to detect HPV. One site says men shouldn't worry about whether or not there is a test because they rarely develop cancers (from high risk HPV) as women do. While this may be true I think men should still worry about the possibility of passing HPV along unknowingly to their partner and while protected sex cannot prevent HPV transmission it cant hurt. I recently read that Merck is looking to have the FDA approve the Guardasail vaccine for boys and men. Given the snails pace of the FDA this could take awhile. In the meantime, if you have signs of low risk HPV, genital warts, make sure your partner gets tested for both low and high risk HPV. Hopefully, she has had the vaccine and if not, I suggest she get it, ASAP. However, if she is already infected with HPV the vaccine will be of no use.

How can women be sure their men are HPV free if there is no test? They can't. You have to hope they haven't been with a ton of partners and keep your fingers crossed. And keep in mind that after a point, pretty much everyone's been exposed to it at least once. Just keep up with the annual PAP tests.
