Hi there. I was wondering if anyone knows a good cream that can help with the discomfort of Lichen Planus. I asked my regular doctor this question, and he had no answers for me. I have had re-current outbreaks of this skin disease for almost 3 decades now. The intervals between outbreaks have been years sometimes...When I am under stress is when it comes back. I have it bad on my front side and back side...Havethere been any new research done in recent years, to help people who have this immune disorder find relief? Thanks...Deb

Hi Deb
I have had lichen planus for about three years. I have not had any luck with just using topical creams. I've been through many different medications trying to find one that works - I've had the most success with Colchicene. I take 3 0.6 MG tablets per day. For the most part, this keeps it under control. As you said, during times of stress, it sometimes flares up. But it seems prevention is easier than treatment after the spots erupt.

Hi. Hope you have found some relief by now but if not, I will tell you my own findings. I have had vaginal lichen planus for about 15 years now. At one time it was so severe that the slightest touch would be excruciating. I am now 69 years old and have very little problems any more. A very wise gyno. at UCSF found a brilliant treatment for me. I had been subscribed cortisone cream which had helped with the exterior irritation but hard to apply vaginally. She prescibed hemmoroid suppository with cortisone to be inserted vaginally every night. Within two weeks my symptoms had almost dissappeared and I have very little trouble with this now. I know it sounds strange but check it out with your doctor. Hope you find relief.
