I went to a doctor about dry, red patches on my skin about two months ago. She said it was acne- I would disagree.
I have absolutely no history of acne. When my face does act up, its just a pimple here or there. Nothing like this.
I DO, however, have history of face fungus. When I was little, I used to get ringworm and other facial fungi.
I think this is something similar, but the doctor I went to was sure it was acne.
It cant be. If it was, it would have cleared up by now. I have great skin, and it just dosent do acne. Never has, and nobody else in my family has either.
HOWEVER, once again, my sister has also fought with skin disorders that had nothing to do with acne, mostly on her legs.
I want to go to a dermatologist for a second opinion.
Any ideas of what this could be?
Its red skin around my mouth and nose, with little flaky bits that peel off. It often looked inflamed, but never has pustuals like acne does, even though if I peel off a larger piece of skin, it produces a fluid.
Its gross, and REALLY embarrassing. I dont know what to do- nothing is making it better.

Sounds like it could be yeast. I would try some Lotrimin on the areas and see if it clears up.
