I used to take Zyrtec when it was Prescription Only and it made me SO TIRED. Is the over the counter brand the same way? I have allergies to animals and I'd love to find something that wouldn't put me to sleep.

The over-the-counter version of Zyrtec is exactly the same product that used to be prescription only.

Have you tried taking Claritin (the generic version is called Loratadine) - it is non-sedating (but doesn't work as well for some people as Zyrtec does).

you might also try taking the zyrtec at bedtime. Some people report the drowsy effect wears off by the following morning.
