I have been to this supermarket for decades......What I would just love to know......(I was diagnoised with Labs about 4 1/2 weeks ago......went to the ER again they said Meniers......went to a new ENT.....he said it;s Viral Labs.......) God only knows what the hey I actually have.......all I know is that 1 1/2months ago I was able to drive.......go to stores.......be just a normal human......but tonight.......I asked my Hubby to take me to the supermarket.......welllll once in there I was so off balance.....I hung in there...had to hang on the cart......not walk to fast or make quick moves.........why am I like this???? Never had this type problem before......this is a nightmare to me.........I am sorry to vent.......I am just distressed at not being able to do the simple things like I did before.

Oh no...believe me, I know what you are going through, My ENT could not give me ANY diagnoses though. He said I was fine and basically to get over it. I think the supermarket has to do with the lighting and all of the noise. I find pushing the cart very helpful. I get the same feelings in malls and Best Buy is awful for me. I just hold my boyfriend's hand until I can't take it anymore and have to get out of there! I wish I knew of some way to help ya, but I have no idea what is going on myself. Not to discourage you, but I have had this problem for about a year now. It all started for me when I had my ears rinsed out(to rid of wax buildup) with one of those things at the dr.'s office. I think they used too much pressure and damaged something in my ear. I curse the day I ever had it done. Although all the other docs I go to swear this procedure could have in no way effected my ears. No diagnoses whatso-ever. Had tests, meds, ct scans, mri...my ear always feels clogged up. (Right ear) or like there is fluid or pressure in there. The only thing that seemed to help me alittle was when I quit smoking (I smoke a pack a day) for a month. I know I need to quit again...but it is so hard http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif
Well, I hope that you find some relief...and no two people are the same. Perhaps it will get better for you! And when it does, let me know what you did...LOL. In the mean time, try to find a cart and hang on! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hi
......"why am I like this????".........
Not unusual with inner ear problem---it is explained here:
SENSORY CONFLICT AND OTHER CAUSES OF DIZZINESS: ETIOLOGY, DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS, AND MANAGEMENT
http://www.opt.pacificu.edu/ce/catalog/COPE7282/Dizzy.html
...."I am just distressed at not being able to do the simple things like I did before".....
you're constantly fighting the mismatch from your visual input and your disordered balance system that a very basic mechanism -- a mechanism that was developed as you learned to sit and crawl and that influenced how you later manipulated objects and then walked and spoke and thought, a mechanism that's taken for granted and built into very fundamental habits -- something that fundamental is being distorted That the vestibular and visual disturbance interferes with nuclei functioning within the brain stem and thus interferes with your sequencing of information and impairs and reduces your channeling capacity...the reason you have this problem as a vestibular patient is that your brain stem is affected. The brain stem is a stalk connected to the spinal cord. There are nuclei located in the brain stem that attach to your balance system; they are also highly important for keeping your cortex, your thinking areas, alert and aroused and attentive.

In addition to the two web sites above---there is a in depth explanation for what you are talking about at:

Vision problems are specifically addressed at this web site:

Hey Dizzy and LarLarz
I just wanted to add that I had the Supermarket vision problem and Best Buy was awful. But now at the 6 1/2 month mark I can go just about anywhere. My brain adjusts after just a few minutes.
I am still waiting for the computer symptoms to go away. I feel like I am reading in a moving vehicle.
Hope you feel better soon.
