I have a question for my dad. He has severe back problems. Not only did he have a bad back but he had a severe rearend collesion while at work. He was in a company pickup truck and the person hit him so hard that it pushed the back all the way up to the front. So, his back problems were increased significantly. He was out of work for months had surgeries and was finally allowed to go back on light duty. (this does not exist at his work) So, finally after doing everything he could think of he decided to retire early. He is only 54.
The question is can he still apply for SSDI? I told him i doubted it since technically he was retired. But he thinks since he retired over a disability that he should at least try.
Has anyone has experience with this or know anything that could help.
Thanks in advance.

At least he will have moeny coming in untill he is approved.
Good Luck

Yeah this is true. and he was very lucky that since he had been with the company for so long he was able to keep his health insurance and will be able to forever. That is the one thing he is lucky about. I wish I were as fortunate. I had to go onto cobra when i left because of my disability. Now, my 18 months are up march 1. If only i could get my court date before then and get approved I could keep it for another year. I take alot of medications and see a lot of doctors, and with the pre-existing condition i can't afford a lapse of coverage. I will talk to my dad and get the all rolling for him..
