Hi I noticed on another thread that you had lab's over 20 months ago and still suffer symptoms. Seems like I am in the same boat as you. Please could you share with me your symptoms so that I can compare it to how I am. Many thanks!!

Hi - afraid i got the same deal - hed labs two years ago and still got the effects - for me as well as the lightheadedness I have a persistent feeling of imbalance - sometimes severe sometimes mild, at its worst it makes me feeln disorinentated. Still get spells of feeling like I am moving when I am not. Also when tired objects appear not to be perfectly still. The worst thing for me is the feelin that every move I make is unpleasant - like the senstaion I get is just no the move I made. Hard to describe and I think related to the imbalance. Lets hope this is not forever - I am gettin VRT - mostly the reassurance is the most helpful elememt soo far. Been told my symptoms are all a result of Lab's damaging the inner ear - they are calling it vestibular dysfunction and also bppv - had the epley done - helped a bit. They keep sayin that its gonna go away - but I am losing hope a bit. How are you coping with it. thanks seems like we have had it the longest!!

hi sorry to hear that you are suffering but you are not alone with this i cope in different ways really i get up in the morning and tell myself i am going to beat this head monster but unfortunately what i tell myself doesnt seem to make the slightest difference i have children so that makes it harder to stay bright and happy for them and luckily my husband is understanding most of the time i just feel that there is never going to be an end to this and having no help from my gp makes me feel worse hope you have better days soon how do you cope x

Hey mollys mum
Thanks for replying!!
I know what you mean about that lightheaded thing its not pleasant - I often think it feels like you ahve low blood sugar - of course eating does not help. I find that feeling annoying and as you say persistent - hard to relax with it I find. It also can make me feel almost disconnected like things feel a bit odd. i have 3 young kids too and could really do without this head monster. I had to laugh at your comment about thinking positive does not stop it - how well I know that one lol. Will let u know how I get on tommorrow.

[I have had this condition for years in fact since 1988. I woke up one morning feeling very dizzy and sickly i couldnt even walk to the gps it was as if i was drunk the most horrible feeling anyone could imagine. I still get spells of it now and again and im feeling bad at the moment. I was told i had labrynthitus by my gp thought i was going mad to be honest . iv also been put on antidepressants as the imbalance and feeling of been spaced out really gets me down i would love for it to go completly but its allways niggling in the background why would a viral infection stay with me for this amount of time can any one answer that for me thanks gill44.

Gill, it sounds like you have periods of decompensation. I bet you would benefit from vestibular exercises. They are to raise your vestibular system up...so you won't decompensate over the years.
