Hi All,
Thought this was an important abstract that everyone with neck problems and dizziness should read. You'll need to get the full article from a library. It basically outlines how neck problems may be the cause of your ongoing vertigo.
"Cervicogenic dizziness: a review of diagnosis and treatment."
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list _uids=11153554&dopt=Abstract (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=11153554&dopt=Abstract)
I'm really starting to think that this might be what's happening with me as I've had a lot of people digging around my cervical spine over the last 3 months to sort out head fog. Presently I have had little change in my so called "labyrinthitis" - now coming up on 6 weeks. Now I just have to find someone in Sydney who knows how to treat this.
Cheers...Scott

Hi again all,
I actually got a hold of the above journal article from our library at the University of Sydney. Unfortunately, it's not available as a free-view PDF. The good news is that the 2 cases that are reported are from people who have suffered from quite serious neck injuries. What's more, they both experienced quite severe and constant neck pain. While it's impossible to completely rule out the neck possibly contributing to the dizziness, it seems unlikely unless whiplash is involved. In both cases the individuals were cured.
I think Subs made a very good point a few posts back about neck pain - one I had not considered. The constant imbalance causes the neck muscles to make many more tiny adjustments than normal to the head's position. The result is over-worked and painful neck muscles.
Cheers....Scott

Hi Guys\
You all had me thinking about neck related dizziness. Even my GP declared that my problems may be in my neck. I am approaching month 7 and going through bit of a rough patch. I decided to get the neck checked out. I went to an Orthopaedist. He sent me for an MRI of my cervical spine but he believes that my neck pain is due to tension and stress from the inner ear stuff. He wanted to be sure that there was not any disc problems so he sent me for the MRI. If all is clear he is still going to send me for physical therapy to relax the muscles in my neck. I get deep pain that shoots up into my head. Basically I have a headache every day.
I am sick and tired of being sick and tired........
Yesterday was a good day. The weather was beautiful. I spent most of the day out doors enjoying the last few days of fall. Today it is going to rain.... my head feels like it is in a vice......
Hope you all are feeling much better....

I didn't have the neck problems until about 2 months or so of being dizzy. I have developed TMJ from it. It has actually been the hard part for me the last 2 or 3 weeks. My neck has been SO stiff and sore and the tension so great. Feels like my head is just TOO heavy. Do you have alot of cracking and crunching when you turn your head?
My ENT dr. is trying to blame the tension on my personality but I am not normally a stressed out kind of person. I KNOW that it is coming from all the mixed up messages going on inside my head! Tension comes out of nowhere.
I did start doing some yoga neck exercises that have really helped. The tension hasn't been near as strong since I have been doing them and my head doesn't feel as heavy as it did. It was kind of scary doing the exercises at first cause my neck just crunched thru it!
Also, speaking of the weather. We have been having absolutely beautiful fall weather. Yesterday we had a storm come thru and I could feel the tension from the storm just about the time it got here. It is so weird what heavy cloud cover does to me. It won't always affect me in just a small rain. But when it is heavy and a wide spread system I REALLY feel it. I was very thankful to wake up feeling like I have been the last week or so (which is better!) I was hoping the rain didn't set me back.
Well, hope you have a good day. The sunshine helps! I have really gotten to dread cloudy, overcast days and do NOT like the dark. I have to sleep with some kind of light on all the time now. WEIRD, WEIRD, WEIRD!
But I am a Christian and actually the Lord is my light and He has kept me from despair! I am so glad He is there!
