i have sharp fast shooting stabing pain when i sit stand walk or lie down in the top of my butt, it makes me scream out with pain it may last a few days at a time then leave me again. can you give me an idea as to what this might be?

sounds like your sciatic nerve.......get yourself to a chiropractor......

Yes, Sciatica.
If the sharp pain was lower down, close to the back of your thigh, it could be your hip joint. I've had sudden stabbing hip pains in public, nothing like screaming out loud and grabbing your own buttock to get attention at the mall. :p
