What is everyone's opinions on taking naps in the afternoon? I've been wanting to start taking naps but anytime I take a nap I usually end up sleeping longer than I want or taking too long to fall asleep. When I wake up from the nap, I just feel groggy and out of it.

So, what is the optimal length of time to nap? How do I not let my nap affect my night time sleep? What are some other tips got a great nap? :)

Thanks!

I take a nap practically every weekday...not so much on weekends. I start work at 3pm, so I usually crawl into my bed around 12:30pm and nap until a few minutes before 2pm. However, I wake up each weekday morning at 4:30am (to go to the gym for my workout)...so that's probably why I'm ready for a nap by 12 noon. Can't really help you with your specific questions, nor do I have any tips to offer...just wanted to chime in and say that afternoon naps get a big thumbs up from me! Don't know if they're a good idea, healthy or whatever...but I have no plans of giving my naps up. :D
