was his creatinine the only lab that was not within normal ranges? was there anything else? do you at least happen to know what his GFR was? the normal ranges for creatinine is 0.5-1.3 mg/dl. so he would be above the norm there. have they done any UAs on him to check for protien or anything else in his urine that is not supposed to be there, like blood or pus...? there are alot of things that are possible to actually have in our urine that can indicate other problems. in most cases, having a high creatinine can be an indicator of kidney disease or another type of kindney issue. what did his doc say about this? The creatinine level is a blood test that is a measure of kidney function. The higher the number, the lower the kidney function. A normal creatinine is typically less than 1, and people usually need dialysis when their creatinine is at least over 5 (sometimes lower, but usually higher).
There are two types of kidney problems - acute, which means that something happened quickly to cause the kidney function to decline (often happens in the hospital, but can happen as an outpatient too) or chronic, which is when the kidney function is reduced for usually more than 3 months.
Do you have previous values? Another important test is a measure of protein in the urine - has this been done?

There's also an 87 to 90, something. I can't remember if it's creatnine. I think that's usually my number but once it may have been higher. Last time the girl only copied two or the three pages, so I didn't get what I was interested in. Is BUN about kidneys?
