I've had several Lithotripsy's and they're not really a big deal. Please don't fear being put to sleep. Before you know it, you'll be waking up and it will all be overwith. I've been put to sleep many times and have never had a problem waking up. Hope it all works out well for you.

Hi. The last stone I had a Lithotripsy for was 6 mm. Yes, it was broken up without a problem. I know. You'll do fine. Post on here after it's done. I'll be thinking about you. Sue

I only had a stent put in once a long time ago. I'm not sure why some people have stents put in and others don't need them.

The date is set for mon the 16th, he said hes not going to put a stent in.
Im soo scared! I wish he would let me stay awake for it, thats the only thing Im really worried abt, being put to sleep and not waking up.
Were u in alot of pain after u had the lithotripsy?

Try not to worry about being put to sleep. I'm a chronic worrier, but have never worried about being put to sleep and not waking up. My back was sore afterwards for a couple of days and then I was fine. Good luck with the Lithotripsy. I'm glad you won't need a stent. Post on here when you're feeling up to it. Sue

Theres nothing to be afraid of they dont put you in a deep sedation for it at all I woke up several times during a few of my lithotripsy's and it just feels like your being stung by a rubber band and if you say something that you are awake if it would happen they will just put you back to sleep.. Then afterward you will pee some blood and possibly the stones that look like sand.. I have had over 70 kidney stones.. Its not that bad.

Hello, I thought I would add to everyone's notes.... I agree with the others, the Lithotripsy is not so bad. They did not put me out completely, just made me drowsy. Afterwards, there is some blood and your back aches a little, but other than that no problems.
